In collaboration with the school board, students, and wider community, Kamo Marsh has created a school environment that reflects and celebrates the strong bicultural focus of Te Waka Unua’s learning programme.
Vibrant and durable outdoor play areas foster student engagement and instil a sense of pride in the school’s outdoor spaces.
The design thoughtfully connects the school to the nearby Ōpāwaho / Heathcote River and honours traditional Māori pathways that pass through the area, reinforcing a deep sense of place and cultural narrative.
Kamo Marsh was responsible for the detailed design documentation, cultural landscape advice, and contract observation services across various project stages.
