Located in Hanley’s Farm, Queenstown, Kamo Marsh Central Lakes was engaged to provide full landscape design services and oversee the construction of the outdoor spaces at Te Kura Whakatipu o Kawarau. Developed in close collaboration with the school community, the design was shaped by the distinctive landscape character of Queenstown and the rich multicultural history of the site and its growing community.
A key aspect of the project was the engagement with local mana whenua, who created a bespoke cultural paving design symbolising the Kawarau Maunga and Lake Whakatipu. Our team managed the successful delivery of this element, along with the broader landscape implementation.
The resulting outdoor environment serves not only as a dynamic space for learning and play but has also become a valued gathering place for the wider community. The design is grounded in sustainable principles, using local materials, native plants, and boulders suited to the Queenstown climate. It integrates seamlessly with the natural beauty of the surroundings, and we are proud to have contributed to such a meaningful and well-used community asset.
